Foodie Photography

There’s just something about photographing foods.  It has become a strong passion of mine.  Maybe it the primal instinct that we need food to survive.  I think that’s part of it, but it goes way beyond that.  In my case, way, way beyond!

 Food, with it’s colors and textures, shapes and sizes, really brings out the creative side in me!  Every time I cook now, it’s like an art class and then the art show begins.  I giggle at that and so does my wife.  Sure it’s dinner, but when the camera comes out, it takes that to a new level!  I’ll snap so many photos and reposition so many times that dinner gets cold.  Sometimes I catch my wife shaking her head at me… unless she is baking cookies and cakes and then she is right there setting up the display for me!  

Then, one day, I got a message on my phone.  It was from someone who owned a store that made and sold chocolates and sweets.  I was thrilled, knowing that I could work on my creativity with this one... and afterwards, I could eat my displays!  I went in and the store owner gave me tons of chocolates.  I set up my equipment and got to work.  The ideas just kept on coming.  I was pulling caramels apart and stacking them too.  I was working with lights and darks.  I was having a great time!  It was then that I realized that I wanted to do this kind of photography for others too.  Oh, and my client loved my chocolate photos!!  And that’s exactly what happened and rest is history!
